Progressive side bets: Casino games like Caribbean Stud Poker commonly offer one of these. You typically place a bet ($1 is the normal value) to try to win a side jackpot that could be upwards of $25,000. Although big jackpots like these are very tempting, they’re also particularly hard to win. You would have to hit a Royal Flush in order to succeed on this wager. Also, picture this- you play 20 hands and put the side wager every time. That’s 20 dollars you should have used towards the real game bet in place of a sucker wager. Imagine what you could have been able to win at a wager with more favorable odds using that $20.
Single number wagers in Roulette: This is especially true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has just 1. This shifts the overall house edge from 2% with a single zero wheel to a huge 5.26% in American. The one number wager has only a 1 in thirty eight chance of winning, which are very long odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red wagers as a substitute which have a much smaller casino edge.
Keno: Any version of Keno, and anyway you wager on it, the casino edge can be a huge twenty-five percent. No, that isn’t a error. Due to the large set of numbers you have to pick, it is not recommended to gamble on Keno to often. A number of times for entertainment, maybe. But do not waste all your money on it or you will immediately find yourself broke.
