Net Casino Sucker Bets — Part 2

Progressive side wagers: Casino games like Caribbean Stud Poker regularly have one of these. You typically lay a wager (a dollar is the usual amt.) to try to win a bonus jackpot that could be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Although big jackpots like this are very alluring, they are also incredibly difficult to succeed. You might need to hit a Royal Flush in order to succeed on this wager. Also, imagine this- you play twenty hands and lay the side wager each time. That is twenty dollars you could have used towards the real game wager instead of a sucker wager. Just think about what you might have been able to win at a wager with better odds using that twenty dollars.
Single number wagers in Roulette: This is especially true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two 0’s on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has just 1. This takes the overall house advantage from 2.63% with one zero wheel to a whopping five% in American. The individual number bet has only a one in thirty eight chance of succeeding, which are very big odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red wagers instead which have a much lower house edge.
Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you wager on it, the casino edge can be a whopping 25%. No, that isn’t a typo. Due to the huge set of numbers you have to choose, it is not advisable to gamble on Keno to often. A couple of times for fun, perhaps. But don’t spend all your cash on it or you’ll quickly discover yourself bankrupt.
